While residents of ATS Hamlet sector 104 demanded cleaning of drains leading to overflow of sewers and resurfacing of road, residents of sector 105 requested that the front area of judges colony in the sector be made dust free along with green belt developed on the side of the society. They also demanded a commercial centre near the society. We have noted all the demands with most work such as resurfacing of road, sanitation etc. will be completed by October 15. On blocked drains and overflowing sewers, the problem be attended by Jal department very soon. For commercial centre, we will draw up a plan with its costing etc., said Samakant Srivastava general manager (Civil) who led the authority delegation in residents meet on Friday across four sectors. The authority officials also held a separate meeting with RWA of sector 105 where Pradeep Kumar, RWA member raised issues of sanitation, road side cleaning of bushes, public health, street light related issues and resurfacing of road etc. I have directed Satypal, senior manager from the Authority to complete to address these issues on top priority starting today, said Srivastava. [h=1]Greens to move NGT against tree cutting[/h] TNN | Sep 22, 2018, 07:02 IST Activists said 1,000 trees had been chopped in Ghaziabad in one month NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: Environmentalists in Ghaziabad have said they will approach the National Green Tribunal (NGT) against the forest department and local authorities for chopping trees in various parts of the city in the name of pruning them. The activists claimed at least 1,000 trees had been chopped in the city forest area of Ghaziabad over the past month. They said trees had been cut also in Raj Nagar, along the Ambedkar Road and several other commercial areas. The decision to approach the green tribunal comes days after the forest department said even pruning of trees by the development authorities of Noida and Ghaziabad would require a permission from it. A green activist in Ghaziabad said he had sent at least 20 complaints to the forest department over the past three days highlighting how branches, and even tree tops, were being lopped off when they were just meant to be trimmed. We have sent 20 complaints to the forest department over the past few days. Over past one month, trees have been cut irresponsibly. There are some places where trees are getting cut to prevent accidents from electrical wires. At other places, trees are being shopped off so that signboards of showrooms are visible. But such kind of pruning is illegal and not in keeping with the Uttar Pradesh Tree Protection Act, 1976, said Pradeep Sunpura, a green activist from Ghaziabad. Similar complaints of rampant cutting of trees were also reported from Sector 56 in Noida, where activists alleged trees were being felled to create a pathway. Residents have complained about trees being cut for the creation of a pathway in this sector, but no steps have been taken to control it. We are going to take these complaints to the National Green Tribunal. There has to be strict accountability for trees being cut across NCR. Development plans have to include trees and canopies cant be destroyed just for petty reasons, said Vikrant Tongad, an environmentalist in Noida area. Forest officials said complaints of tree cutting were being addressed. Steps are being taken to curb cutting of trees in the district. Branches of a number of trees have overgrown after the rains, which is why we are trimming them. We are trying our best to stop rampant trimming, a forest department official said. The UP Tree Protection Act of 1976 lays down strict parameters for pruning and cutting of trees. It says that the authority concerned needs to send a requisition to the forest department 20 days ahead of cutting trees. For a tree to be removed completely, a substitute plantation is supposed to be done. [h=1]Elevated road in Sector 82 likely to come up in 3 years[/h] Meenakshi Sinha | TNN | Sep 22, 2018, 07:01 IST Noida: The cityscape of Noida is all set to change. Work on one of the three elevated roads mooted to help mitigate congestion on city roads above the Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera (DSC) Road, between sectors 41-49 crossing and Sector 82 is to begin by January next year, officials said on Friday. The proposed 5.5 km elevated road will begin near Aghapur village in Sector 41 and go up to Sector 82 T-point. Tendering for the estimated Rs 500 crore project will be finalised by November this year and work to begin by January 2019, Samakant Srivastava, general manager (civil), Noida Authority, told TOI. It will take 36 months to complete the project, the general manager added. Once operational, motorists travelling towards Barola in the Sector 49 area, Salarpur and Bhangel up to Sector 82 T-point will have a signal-free ride, thereby easing the pressure of traffic in the area. The road is planned to make Noida decongested from the ever-increasing traffic, which is a result of higher vehicle density in the city, Srivastava said. According to officials, the elevated road will be a six-lane stretch, with three lanes on each carriageway. While the DSC Road is one of the busiest, the situation is made worse from the stretch between Barola village near Sectors 49 and Sector 82, being narrow and heavily encroached upon. The proposed elevated road will address this issue once completed. The three new elevated roads were proposed by a committee of three ministers UP industries minister Satish Mahana, urban housing minister Suresh Khanna and sugar mills minister Suresh Rana that was formed on October 5, 2017, to ready an action plan to reduce traffic congestion in Noida. Apart from the one above the Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera (DSC) Road, a 4.8km elevated road above the Shahdara drain, starting from Delhis Chilla and ending at Sector 95 in Noida, and another above Master Plan-1 Road, between sectors 19/2 and sectors 12/22, are the other two.
