At present, the road connecting the sectors 12/22 intersection with the Metro hospital and the one connecting the T-Series junction are narrow. While the road connecting the T-Series intersection with Sector 4 is occupied by a slew of vehicles illegally parked outside a car showroom, the road connecting the sectors 12/22 intersection with Metro hospital is rendered narrow due to encroachments by e-rickshaws and house owners who have covered a part of the road, apart from the electricity poles on the footpath. SP (traffic) Anil Jha said the roads are narrow and they will have to bear the extra burden once the NTPC underpass opens on October 10. �With the opening of the NTPC underpass, it�s expected that number of commuters on the DND Flyway will reduce by about 15-20%. However, those commuters who would till now take the City Centre route for travelling towards sectors 49, 51, etc, will now take the NTPC underpass via the T-Series and the Sector 12/22 intersection. As the left turns here are not free, traffic is likely to get stuck on this route, once the underpass starts,� he said. He said at the T-Series intersection, cars have been lining up on the road towards Sector 4 outside a car showroom. The force has sought widening of both the connecting roads here, he said. Meanwhile, commuters have demanded that the traffic police regulates the illegal parking mafia on these stretches. �There are a number of cars parked outside the car showroom when we turn towards left at the T-Series intersection. The traffic police needs to free the left turns from the illegal parking mafia in order to make more space for vehicles,� said Achal Kaul, a resident of Sector 22.
