The corporation also directed the officials to carry out a survey in the areas falling under the corporation to identify dangerous properties. According to the previous dangerous building survey, there was no dangerous building in the Keshavpuram administrative zone under which Sawan Park falls, while only three dangerous buildings were earmarked in the entire Old Delhi-Sadar Paharganj area. Out of the 181 buildings identified as dangerous, 171 were located in Khera Kalan village in Narela zone. People there continue to live dangerously. The five-storey building in west Delhis Sawan Park was inspected by a municipal team following complaints. Our team had visited the site but found the building was not unsafe, a corporation spokesperson said. The new survey has to be carried out within seven days. The corporation will also send notices to already identified dangerous buildings. Such houses are to be vacated and sealed if found dangerous for life so that such incidents are not repeated, an official added. [h=2]The survey order by the engineer-in-chief of the corporation stated, Any laxity or misreporting in this regard shall be viewed very seriously and the official concerned would be held personally responsible.[/h] On Thursday, when civic officials visited the Sawan Park lane, where the collapse took place, to issue fresh notices to nearby houses, they faced stiff resistance and protests from residents. [h=1]Property buyer allowed to recover Rs. 5 lakh from seller[/h] Nirnimesh Kumar NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 28, 2018 00:00 IST UPDATED: SEPTEMBER 28, 2018 03:48 IST [h=2]Following failure of sale-purchase agreement to buy residential premises[/h] A court here has permitted a property buyer to recover Rs. 5 lakh earnest money from the seller following failure of the sale-purchase agreement to buy a residential premises. Agreement at Rs. 22.5 lakh The suit filed by the buyer stated that he had entered into an agreement with the seller to buy the property at Rs. 22.5 lakh in north-east Delhi in 2012. The buyer paid Rs. 7 lakh to the seller as earnest money. The rest was to be paid at the time of execution of the sale deed. When the buyer approached the property owner after some time for processing of the sale deed, her husband told him that she was not agreeable to selling the premises. The property was owned by his wife. Owner issued cheques Thereafter, the property owners husband issued four cheques to the buyer for Rs. 4 lakh, of which the bank honoured only two cheques for Rs. 1.5 lakh. When the buyer informed the property owners husband that the bank had refused to honour the remaining cheques, he assured that he would issue fresh cheques. He later flatly refused to make the payment. Thereafter, the buyer filed a recovery suit in the court of Additional District Judge Brijesh Kumar Garg. Allowing his suit, the judge said: Perusal of the statement of account indicates that an amount of Rs. 1.5 lakh has been returned back to the plaintiff [buyer]. Further, an amount of Rs. 50,000 has been returned by the defendant [property owner] to the plaintiff. Under these circumstances, it is held that the plaintiff is entitled for recovery of an amount of Rs. 5 lakh from defendant no.1 [property owner]..., the judge further said.
