[h=1]Noida draws up 3-stage plan to decongest city[/h] Vandana Keelor| TNN | Updated: Mar 7, 2018, 05:20 IST Among the solutions are elevated roads and more traffic signals NOIDA: The Noida traffic committee set up by the state government has completed a comprehensive traffic management plan for the city on Tuesday. The aim of the plan is to streamline vehicular movement across the city and reduce congestion on roads. Identifying three levels of solution for the management of traffic, the committee appointed by a three-member ministerial panel urban housing and development minister Suresh Khanna, industries minister Satish Mahana and minister (independent charge) of cane development and sugar mills Suresh Rana has compiled a report which will now be forwarded to the state government for final approval before it is implemented. According to officials, Noida Authority chief Alok Tandon had on November 2017 finalised the staggered plan on short, medium and long-term measures. Tandon heads the committee, whose members include the district magistrate, senior superintendent of police, the regional transport officer of Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad, additional CEOs of Noida and Greater Noida and SP (traffic). The revamp plan includes new traffic signals, foot overbridges, underpasses and elevated roads, an official explained. According to the proposal, the plan will be implemented in three stages once the state government approves it. In the first stage, which will be rolled out in the first six months, important intersections will be provided with free left turns, school buses will not be allowed to park outside the premises, railings located at central verges in the city will be raised to deter jay walkers, stop lines and direction boards will be repainted, and bus stands will be built. In the second stage, which will be completed between six months and two years, 20 new traffic signals and 40 new traffic blinkers will be installed across the city. For pedestrians, 16 more foot overbridges (FOBs) will be built across strategic locations. There is also a proposal for construction of additional multi-level parking facilities for 13,000 vehicles, besides bus shelters. In the third stage, underpasses and FOBs will be built at sectors 51, 71, 49, 47, Mamura crossing and along the Noida-Greater Noida expressway near Sector 148. Elevated roads will also be built between sectors 19 and 56, along the Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera (DSC) road, Sector 49 and Noida Special Economic Zone (NSEZ) and above Shahdara drain, between Chilla regulator in Delhi and Master Plan Road 3. [h=1]Childrens park in Sector 51 hit by poor upkeep, RWA writes to Noida[/h] Meenakshi Sinha| TNN | Updated: Mar 7, 2018, 05:16 IST Residents say garbage lies around the entrance to the park NOIDA: The residents welfare association of Noidas Sector 51 has written to Noida Authority CEO Alok Tandon on the deteriorating condition of the childrens park in E block, accusing the horticulture department of a casual approach. The RWA said that the Noida Authority should ensure that the plants in the garden are properly watered during the summer months and also demanded that gardeners be employed cut the grass and shrubs. The members also sought full-time staff be recruited for collecting garbage from the park and clean toilets. According to Sanjeev Kumar, the RWA general secretary, the main problem of the 3.55-hectare childrens park was the lack of the required number of staff. The lack of maintenance can be seen across the park. For example, despite designated sanitary staff and gardeners employed for the park, they are rarely seen there. As a result, no new saplings have been planted, there are no seasonal flowers nor is there a proper mechanism to water the plants. Apart from these, dry leaves, garbage (at various places, including the entrance and the walking tracks) and waste can be seen across the park. This becomes a hindrance for the children, said Kumar, who has written to CEO Tandon. Kumar has urged Tandon for dedicated gardeners and cleaning staff on a regular basis to keep the park clean and remove all garbage. The sector RWA also accused the horticulture department of a casual approach. Now that the summer has begun, theres a need for proper watering of the plants and the grass, which are drying, said Anil Prakash Ranotra, the RWA president of sector 51. Kumar further said that while there are two sets of toilets for ladies and gents separately, none of them are in working condition. The reasons are that one set of toilets was renovated by a contractor within this financial year. He carried out civil and sanitary work in this toilet and also placed the water tank on the roof, but there is no water supply in these toilets. As such, these toilets are not in working condition. The contractor did not check if the toilets were functioning, but still they were given payments without carrying out any checking, Kumar alleged.
