The number of frauds in India is alarming. First Singh brothers then Nirav and now OLA. I guess, anyone who is in position of power in India will try to cheat, this is why you shouldnt place trust on anyone with your money in India. Diversify abroad.
AIG the worlds largest insurer also was about to go bust in USA barring gov bailout... Cheap money and gov intervention breeds these scams... India businessmen are just now leaning the tricks of the trade , that is to leverage gov to gobble money..

Head of HR, rejected merit candidates, instead hired from some consultancy and recieved kickbacks from that consultancy in crores. How many crores exactly is hard to know in a black money heaven like India. But the news flash was that the loss and kickbacks combined together might run in millions of dollars. This is the story of start ups in India. Basically no good life for merit and hardworking candidates everywhere, even in the private sector. Ugly reality.
Reality is More Ugly than this in IT company. Family members of VP/Director is running many placement agencies and offering packages like Rs X for Only job , Job + 2 Promotion in 2 Yr Rs Y and so on..........
I was discussing this with a senior manager and he laughed. Apparently the facilities and admin departments in most IT companies make in crores, in commissions and sales commissions. Apparently in most IT companies its a trend to fire entire facilities staff every few years when some internal audit like this unfolds. The funniest part is people think salaried people make more money, when its basically the salaried people who are paying all the taxes and make the cleanest money. Its almost like its impossible to be rich, if you don't cheat. The black economy is massive, so massive that its hard for us to even estimate at this point. And this is after demonetization.

The number of frauds in India is alarming. First Singh brothers then Nirav and now OLA. I guess, anyone who is in position of power in India will try to cheat, this is why you shouldnt place trust on anyone with your money in India. Diversify abroad.
what is your rationale to believe abroad is safe? i could even think of cryptos based of blockchain as an alternative as it is marketed to have the ability to avoid fraud transactions.
Abroad is more diversified. Law enforcement is better. India is after all an emerging market. The common thing about emerging markets is corruption. Recently there was news about South Africa president having to resign because of corruption. Coincidently behind that too people of Indian origin, the Guptas! I am glad, I bought 10% gold recently using Indian money. Times like these gold is comforting. Yesterday, Indian rupee and markets fell due to CAD woes and this scam sentiment hit. So far 30% of my assets are not correlated to India or rupee. I wish the diversification was higher.
Basically the tax agencies are too strong in a country like US. Sure tax legal loopholes exist, but that is for double digit billionaires, for anybody else its impossible to hoard any kind of black cash. In US even the mafia has legal casinos and other businesses and pay taxes. In India you just have to do this slowly. If you do it quickly people will cry, they way they cried during DeMo and GST. Bring in small changes every 2 months. Make it impossible to cheat on taxes and hoard any kind of black cash without scrutiny. Do it slowly, no sudden big moves. Then in 20 - 25 years may be we can reach there. Or else people will vote out any party that tries these kind of structural reforms. We need bipartisan support in national interest for things like this. All parties must agree regardless of who is in power these sort of incremental reforms will go on. And then people too, given things will be gradual can't cry.

http://www.moneycontrol.com/news/business/commodities/nirav-modi-issue-leads-to-concerns-in-jewellery-sector-2511061.html Gold prices in India fall after this Nirav saga. India is the last bastion for gold, probably the only reason gold prices are still holding up. If India abandons gold, then you can kiss goodbye to Gold ever getting back to its previous highs.

My father passed away on 10th Feb. All my plans are completely changed since then. Some bank shares can be considered in this carnage of all banks.
