This is regarding Infrastructure Bonds Tranche 1 of FY 2011 -12 from IDFC. The buyback date is 29th Dec 2016. This is held in Physical Form. On the reverse of the bond, it is written, to exercise buyback option, I am required to send the "1.The original bond certificates duly discharged by the sole holder/ all the joint holders". My question is 1. Can the bond certificates be sent to the registrar who is karvy computershare 2. What is the meaning of "duly discharged" ? Is this some special kind of undertaking or any special activity ? If this is a silly question, please laugh at it, but also, please render the answer too :) 3. This was purchased in Joint Names. My wife's maiden name is present on the bond certificate. Now she has appended my surname. So, is there any way, I can update the name on the bond certificate ? 4. If I dematerialise the bond and push this in my Demat account, how will the "duly discharge" happen ? How will I also tell the Registrar to exercise buyback either ? Long list of questions.
